Much of North Logan climbs toward Green Canyon and the foothills, so a lot of properties sit on faster-draining bench ground with thinner topsoil and more sun and wind exposure than the valley floor. Newer subdivisions here were often graded down to builder subsoil, so the lawn you inherited may be sitting on compacted, low-organic ground that no amount of fertilizer alone will fix.

Higher, sandier bench ground sheds water quickly. The fix isn’t just more watering — it’s building organic matter and aerating so the root zone holds moisture instead of letting it run off.
High pH, pale lawns
Like the rest of the valley, North Logan’s soil runs alkaline, which locks up iron and leaves lawns looking yellow-green. We correct it with chelated iron instead of piling on nitrogen.
